glad to see other peeps using the low budget tents. I picked up one from target for 35 bucks 3 yrs ago, thats been working great for me. The only thing I wish it had was a vestibule. I’m going to try your stuff sack trick too and see if it reduces the overall bulk of the tent in my pack. Thanks for the vid.

bought a nice little
light weight g-tex tent
3 lb 3 oz.. 2 internal poles
easy to se up ..bomb proof
but they pissed me off
wouldn’t give me a pro deal ..
so i won’t mention their name
too bad is a nice tent
would have recommend it ..
buy quality guys …it’s your life
stop at the top …

The tent is from Wal-Mart, its an Ozark Trail Junior Dome Tent. The new ones may be slightly different and I have heard heavier, but I can’t not comment on this because I only have this one. I bought it a few years ago and weighed it without the cute case it comes in.

Where did you pick this up at?

Clearly you didnt hear the part about this being only $16.00.

macpac tents are the best tents, strongest, lighest, but clearly none of you have heard of them!

Stef… which tent is this????
$20… where did you get it???

The tent poles are fiberglass. People say that they break easy. But its never happened to me. I had a tent like this as my first backpacking tent, Im fifteen so Its only about 3 years old. But I have been using a tarp set up lately. I saw this vid and decided to try it out a couple of nights ago. It made me wonder why I ever left it.

Lets figure this out together because it could happen to me too….thanx for the input

Laurie,
I would imgaine that the floor did not leak, thankfully. It is possible, but I don’t think so. I did not use seam sealer on mine, but lets try eliminating possibilities one at a time. My educated guess is that the wind kicked up a little and the rain came in from the rain fly lifting. The fly does not overlap much, so….for this test lets put duct tape over the rain fly edges…..you know what I will do a video response tonight.

continued from below…so I really want this to work and I’m hoping not to have to carry a footprint to keep the water out. Maybe it will perform differently on dirt. We are expecting more rain this weekend so I will go outside and see where it is leaking from. It’s possible one of the seams leaked. Did you use seam sealer on yours or any kind of water proofing? Again thanks for the great videos…I’ve watched them all! Warmly, Laurie

con’t: I didn’t sleep in the tent so I don’t know what really happened that the floor was so wet, not the entire thing but about 25 percent so it could have come from somewhere else and just pooled beneath my closed cell pad but I doubt it. I love the ease of set up and the dimensions. My mid sized dog can stand up and turn around and she doesn’t feel trapped like she did in an alps mountaineering tent. It’s so light I could pack it with my hammock for when I can’t find trees.

Bravo~! Thanx for the video. I bought this tent because of you since I wanted a lightweight tent that could fit my Airedale dog and my backpack. I normally use a hammock when camping but wanted an alternative. So I bought it used and set it up last night and it poured and the rain fly and sides held up well but I am now drying my sleeping bag because quite a bit of water came through the floor. Now I’m surprised by that so I’m looking forward to your rain test. I set it up on a wood slated deck.
