@butts0989 Wow so would 14.5 lbs be ultra light for summer base weight or is that light weight b/c i thought i would be ultra light and you would be super ultra light

@mormanman13 The silk liner is fantastic, worth its weight completely, FOR ME. it’s warmth completely depends on what type of sleeper you are. Im a warm sleeper, therefore it adds a good 10* onto my sleep system. Ive heard other reviews of it only giving up to 5* of warmth. Also my winter base weight (5*-25*) is 9 lbs. My summer base weight (+25*) is 6.5 pounds.

It looks expensive, I like it all though. How good is the silk liner. Is it just worth the money or its weight in gold? And I like your tarptent you should check out the one i made. Works good for me and it also ditches the rain gear. Also what is your overall weight? thanks

Hey Hombre looks like we get our pack liners at the same place! SHHH, don’t ruin it for me. Are you headin out on a long walk?

fantastic 3 season system you have going, I like the down hat, and I’ll definitely look into getting one of those.
I don’t use water treatment either, never got sick thankfully, but witnessed many hikers who did, most from cross contamination from a filter, or swimming in a pond…

well my total weight of all gear is 12.5 pounds, including shoes, poles, etc. Weight on my back is almost exactly 9 pounds (9.04 to be exact).
July 18th, 2010 at 2:40 pm
how much does that weigh all together?
July 18th, 2010 at 2:40 pm
@mormanman13 i mean i guess, although ive seen some SUL have a 4lb or less base weight. I do what works for me and what im comfortable with, what i can afford also. I could get my weight crazy low by switching a ton of my stuff to cuben fiber, but whats the point? i can cover 20+ miles comfortably with my pack right now and thats all i care about. if you’re comfortable with 14.5 lbs, then stick with it.

@mormanman13 thats a great start. for cheaper gear but gear that wiill literally last you a lifetime check out Jacks R Better quilts. They are regular quilts that double as hammocking underquilts, they should keep you pretty toasty at night.

@butts0989 I can’t afford much. Looking for a sleeping bag and its ridiculous. I get cold when i sleep so I need something warm and i’m a hammocker so i need it even warm but its fun I love it. Haven’t gone but maybe 110 miles total but i’m trying to rack up my numbers
