In the U.S. you don’t….in Canada you do.

I don’t know how old you have to be in the U.S. but in Canada you can get your Student Pilot license at 14 years of age and your private pilot license at 16 years of age (ultralight).

In Canada you have to be 14 years old for a student rating. 16 for private. I’m not sure if US has the same regulations as Canada.
