These work very good for what they are worth. Seam seal the corners from the floor to the ceiling and if you are inclined, somehow make a bigger rainfly. Then this thing will hold up just fine. I had it in 50-60mph gusts and hail. It worked fine but i had to duct tape the rainfly down during a calm portion of the storm. Water only came in when the rainfly lifted from the wind. FYI

I’m a tarp guy and my silnylon tarp cost 4 times as much as this tent. I’m really considering getting this tent for the summer months when the bugs are out : )

Wow I just used this one too! It was very temporary though, buying a nice one in a few days lol. But yea that tent isnt too bad, I just wouldn’t want to be in a big storm in one though…

Hey, I just bought that same tent last night… going out this weekend to try it out.
I’m hoping it will fit both my wife and me, we are pretty short so we’ll see.
Great vid

My measurement was a little off, it is closer to two pounds. I do not use the original packaging, i tuck the stakes inside and roll up the tent, then use straps to keep it closed.

How did you weight the tent? I have the same tent and its just over 3 lbs (I use a postage scale). I like a tent because of the rain my dog and I hike in. I can keep me, my pack, and my dog dry. Great tent. I did burn the first one a bit with embers. The second I let get musty after a rain and not drying when I got home. I get mine for around $19. They are like disposable tents. The best thing ever.

seam seal all budget tents.
$16 ? Thank god there is a China.
This same exact tent if bought from the French would be $500.

Riicker,
The inside height of mine is approximately 39-40″. Sorry, this took so long.

i will have another tent video shortly, I’m out of the state on business and when I return I have a whole weekend devoted to my YouTube questioneers!!! I promise a tested tent video is next on the agenda, along with a video on my pack itself…..cheers and happy hiking!!!

steffler69; if you don’t mind measuring, I’d be curious to know what the actual inside height is on yours…

I got one! Sad to say the netting is not adequate against black flies, but should be good against anything else. The quality is better than what I was expecting and I think it will hold up provided I keep it away from extremes of wind and rain. Neat feature: Put a flashlight in the small mesh gear loft for overhead lighting! I might remove the netting and sew in no-see-um material (although that might mess up the ventillation). Overall, pretty cool for $20! Thanks for the tip steffler69!

Thanx for the comp Riicker, i will be doin a video testing it asap. As for the flys, I haven’t had any in my tent! Don’t know what kind of screen it is, keeps out mosquitos and flys and those little gnats too. I think you will be rather suprised with its performance…
August 23rd, 2010 at 2:33 pm
What about the screens; is it no see-um netting (keeps out those pesky flea-sized black flies) or is it just standard mosquito netting?

Great idea about the hose! (I’ve always wished there were a good way to test how rain-proof a tent was BEFORE the trip; so why didn’t I think of that!)
August 23rd, 2010 at 2:33 pm
Also, I haven’t experienced a really hard direct rain. I’ve been in some storms, but typically I have some level of tree covering above me helping. Perhaps I will do a video spraying it with a hose!!! Thanx for the idea too

It actually performs really well in the rain; needless to say I was very surprised wit its performance for the price. I haven’t had to waterproof it yet but I will probably spray it with something soon. Had it for a year and its still dry as a bone. The rain fly stays snug on the top and only covers the peak part, the rest is waterproof. I will do more videos on it soon…thanx for the comment
