This is a great video. I made one for my pot/pan combo and it fits and looks great. Great job with the instructions and I agree with you 100% about the need for a good cozy to save fuel.

Russel, your videos are well-produced, articulate, and informative. I’m going to make one of those insulators today as I have scraps of the tinfoil insulation from a home project. Just Awesome. Keep making great videos.

This is such a great idea and design. I’m going to make one and I’ll tell friends. Thanks so much.

good video, my only comment is that you are exaggerating a little bit about OR’s water bottle cozy costing $30. They can be easily found for $15 dollars all over the internet. Thanks for the info, but don’t enhance your products worth by putting others down. You may have just made a mistake, but the error is still there.

$30 my butt, you can find those cozys for less than $15 with very little searching.

No, I have a bunch of it, I will try.

That is great! Thanks for the encouragement.

Hey Russel, you ever try and use that bubble insulation as a ground cloth? It looks hella light.

Russell, I went camping a week ago with the scouts. I took a leaf out of your weekendadventurer website and threw a hot water bottle in my bag before going to bed. My feet love you, and I slept like a baby! Thanks!

This was a good video. I saw things on water botles here I haven’t seen elsewhere. I especially like the upside down bottle trick. Make sense, but never thought of it.

wow, great tips, I love the hand warmer idea. The best part about doing these vids is learning new stuff myself. Very cool.

myself being a 11B Infantry man Im not a light weight hiker or a gram weenie but the littelest of things like this really is great what you are doing this could save someone life like a boy scout if you now what i mean with out water there is no life remeber this even in the winter time dehydration will kill just as easy in winter as in summer.great work Russle

I used this method in korea bosnia and germany and all over the US on hikes in the coldest of winters and at night when you bed down add the warmers to your socks and wrap something soft around the bottle to keep it warm and use it as a pillow kinda hard at times but does work depending what you pack

When you make the pot cozy an inch taller it allows you to go to walmart and but the small hand warmers and you can add one to the bottom of the cozy and it works great I have used this method many times and work great for me
April 27th, 2010 at 5:02 pm
ok, I will. Why does it work?

A rule we use in the military for long cold hikes or treks in the field make you nalgene bottle cozy a inch taller then what you have already.
